It just occurs to me that Weeds is on it's fourth or fifth season and Carnival didn't make it past two.

Fuck you HBO. And well I guess Showtime as well!

I guess it's minimally OK because Weeds sucked after second season anyhow.

I really liked Carnivale and was disappointed in its cancellation, but I'm going to guess (as I don't know for sure) that Weeds costs less to produce.

If show A costs $1 million per hourlong episode and brings in $2 million in revenue per episode, that's a cool mil in profit.

If show B and C cost $250k per halfhour episode and bring in $1.75 million combined, that's $1.5 million in profit, and they'll take show A's slot.

So you may well be onto something there, Ty.

Though what my post doesn't say is how stupid I think the audiences are for watching Weeds. At the very least instead of Carnival.

I still hold out hope that carnivale will return, too. That's why I never watched the second season. But I watch Weeds. To be fair, Carnivale did not have a naked Mary-Louise Parker.

Oh I watched all of that.

I have to say it's enjoyable but also sort of bad.

Part of the reason it's good is because of the environment. I rarely get to see characters in the bayou of Lousiana.
